This was more or less to be expected. Most of the HTS terrorists run to Idlibstan before the pocket was closed and ISIS never had any large menpower in this pocket…

Not the manpower, training arms an leadership. Soviet Deep Battle is a sophisticated mature doctrine. Once the attacker has achieved the initial success the defender fights uphill.

Wait, all in all, if the SAA captured 45 settlements in the recent 12 hours, 65 in total in northeast Hama in the current week, 4 days to be specific, does this mean that there are approximately 50 settlements left in the hands of jihadis in the pocket? Why not provide a map showing that? I remember u guys wrote that the SAA had captured half of the pocket and provided a map of it but it was clear that HTS held territory in the pocket, which was captured by ISIS, was not accounted for.

Soviet Deep Battle operation phase two. Once the enemy main positions and lines of defense are taken – keep him unbalanced and pursue. We have seen the very same strategy successfully performed against IS before when the area between Aleppo and the Euphrates was liberated in a sweep in short time.

p.s. It takes highly accomplished strategists with determined well trained mobile troops to stop the attackers advance. Or another prepared line of defense – as a fall back. IMHO IS has neither. We will see soon.
