BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:05 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army has won back two towns in the southeastern countryside of Idlib province that were lost to a jihadist-led counter-offensive last week.

Moments ago, military-affiliated sources reported that the towns of Surouj and Istablat (located west of Umm Mayal near the Abu Duhur airbase) were retaken by Syrian troops as part of a general offensive throughout all of southeast Idlib province that kicked-off on Saturday.

Although initially captured by the Syrian Army almost two weeks ago, Surouj and Istablat were seized back by jihadist militants during a recent rebel counter-offensive against pro-government forces in southeast Idlib and remained under their control until just a matter of hours ago.

Currently, the Syrian Army is expanding its presence in southeast Idlib by attacking north and west of the Abu Duhur military airport in a bid to create a greater buffer zone around the military site and also to take the nearby city of Abu Duhur.
