BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has restarted their ground assault in northwestern Hama, today, targeting several areas under the control of the militant forces.
Backed by heavy artillery, the Syrian Arab Army’s Tiger Forces stormed the large hilltop of Tal Sakher in a bid to expand their presence in northwestern Hama.
According to a military source, the Tiger Forces are currently engaged in a fierce battle with the Turkish-backed National Liberation Front (NLF) and their militant allies.
The source added that the Syrian Arab Army has received a major boost from their Russian allies, who are continuously bombarding the jihadist groups like Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham.
Should the Syrian Arab Army take hold of Tal Sakher in the coming hours, they will able to flank the militant-held town of Mughayr, which is located directly west of the hilltop.
On Monday morning, the Syrian Arab Army launched their long-awaited offensive to capture the northwestern countryside of the Hama Governorate.
Within hours of launching the offensive, the Syrian Arab Army was able to capture two towns in northern Hama, along with the strategic hilltop of Tal Uthman.
The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham attempted to recapture these lost areas later in the day; however, they were repelled after suffering heavy losses.
