BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:41 P.M.) – Moments ago, military-affiliated sources reported that the Syrian Army besieged Islamist militants inside the East Ghouta stronghold town of Harasta with fire control.

The engagement that led to this success started on Friday night when assault units of the 4th Mechanized Division captured all of the remaining buildings and farmland areas leading up to the Harasta-Douma highway via the northern direction; the Keilani fuel station (situated on the highway itself) represented the termination point of the Syrian Army’s advance.

Whilst having effectively besieged jihadist militants with fire control, 4th Division forces are bound to soon make the final push to link-up with other Syrian Army units either at Masraba or the Vehicle Management Base (or both) and complete the encirclement on the ground.

Coupled with the seizure of Masraba by the Tiger Forces Division just several hours ago, the Syrian Army has now de facto split the East Ghouta pocket three way with fire control (to be physical control soon enough).
