BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:50 P.M.) – The Syrian Army, backed-up by national militia forces, has seized several key locations from rebel fighters based in the countryside around Ar-Rastan along the Homs-Hama provincial border .
According to military-affiliated sources, Syrian assault troops, supported by armor and artillery, have just laid claim to the village of Beit Ray, the valley of Wadi Khanazir and the mountain of Jabal Jinn.
The advance comes one day since Syrian pro-government forces restarted military operations against militant factions in the Rastan area following the latter’s repeated failure to meet set reconciliation terms.
At the present time, it is unclear what Syrian Army units are partaking in the renewed operation around Ar-Rastan.
Update to follow.
