BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:54 P.M.) – Reports (yet unconfirmed) are emerging that elite forces of the Syrian Arab Army have seized a highly-strategic crossroad town located on the border between Idlib and Aleppo provinces.
According to some pro-government sources which often site military reports, units of the Syrian Army’s elite Tiger Forces Division have seized the town of Jazraya from armed rebel groups in recent recent hours.
Jazraya, located on the provincial border between Idlib and Aleppo, is a major junction town which commands many secondary (i.e. countryside) road routes that lead into and from both Syrian regions.
Whilst news of Jazraya’s capture is still unconfirmed, it is nonetheless quite likely true since advances made by the Syrian Army and allied paramilitaries on Friday throughout them to within about one kilometer of the town.
What is interesting to note is that the Tiger Forces are specifically mentioned as the captors of the town despite confirmed reports that the elite Syrian Army formation is to soon end its operation against rebel groups in Idlib and Aleppo for reassignment to another front.
