BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:15 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has recaptured an important town in the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate, today, following a fierce battle with the Al-Qaeda linked Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham terrorist group.
Led by elements of the 4th Mechanized Division and Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army attacked the important town of Musharifah in southern Idlib, scoring a new advance after capturing the nearby Al-Zahra Farms.
Not long after launching their attack on Musharifah, the Syrian Arab Army was able to impose full control over this important town, forcing the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham militants to retreat north towards Abu Dali and its surrounding farms.
The Syrian Army captured Musharifah earlier this week, but were forced to retreat from the town after Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham launched a powerful counter-assault.
If the Syrian Army can fortify the town quickly, they will be able to beat back the eventual jihadist counter-assault and hold onto Musharifah.
