Minutes ago inside the provincial capital of the Deir Ezzor Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army’s 104th Airborne Brigade of the Republican Guard – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Shaytat Tribesmen – liberated the Al-Sina’a District after a violent battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) this evening.
ISIS captured the Al-Sina’a District from the Syrian Armed Forces just 16 hours ago; however, a swift government counter-offensive on Wednesday reversed all of the terrorist group’s gains that were made yesterday.
According to multiple sources in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, the Syrian Armed Forces killed over 75 ISIS fighters during yesterday’s battle at the Al-Sina’a District, including the Tajikistani field commander of ISIS in Deir Ezzor City.
The terrorist group has captured the Al-Sina’a District several times this year, but they have not been able to hold onto it because of the Syrian Air Force’s relentless airstrikes.
