BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:25 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued to make progress in the central region of Syria, today, liberating two more towns from the so-called Islamic State (ISIL).
Led by the Special Forces of the 15th Division and 4th Mechanized Division, the Syrian Arab Army attacked the Islamic State’s positions at the towns of Mu’adamiyah and Al-Khafiyah in the southeastern countryside of ‘Uqayribat.
The Syrian Arab Army would take full control of both aforementioned towns after the Islamic State terrorists withdrew in order to reinforce the area around ‘Uqayribat.
As a result of today’s advance, the Syrian Arab Army is now within 5km of ‘Uqayribat’s southeastern flank, which means they should be able to storm the Islamic State’s stronghold in the coming hours if they choose to.
