BEIRUT, LEBNAON (10:10 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army scored an important advance in southern Syria, today, after they broke through the Islamic State’s (ISIS) front-lines in the Al-Safa region.
Led by their 1st ad 3rd divisions, the Syrian Arab Army kicked off the day by storming the Islamic State’s defenses at the Hawi Awad area, which is located in the northern part of the Sweida Governorate’s Al-Safa region.
According to a military source in Sweida city, the Syrian Arab Army’s assault would prove successful, as their troops managed to liberate the strategic water dam in the Hawi Awad area.
This is an important advance for the Syrian Arab Army because it ultimately cuts off the Islamic State’s last water source inside the vast Syrian Desert.
With no water and limited provisions, the Islamic State will not likely hold this part of the Sweida Governorate for much longer.
