BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:00 P.M.) – Minutes ago, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) kicked off a big offensive inside the eastern sector of the East Ghouta, targeting the Islamist rebel defenses at the Nashabiyah axis.
Led by elements of the 4th Division, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the Nashabiyah axis and Tal Firzat front, capturing several sites from the Islamist rebels of Jaysh Al-Islam.
According to a preliminary military report from the East Ghouta, the Syrian Army has seized the entire Tal Firzat area, which, if true, would propel the latter to capture nearby Hawsh Salihiyah and Nashabiyah.
A source in Damascus told Al-Masdar News that the attack came from two different axes (northern and southern flanks), which surprised the Jaysh Al-Islam militants in the area.
This latest offensive by the Syrian Arab Army comes just days after much of the 4th Division was redeployed to the East Ghouta in order to restart operations in the eastern part of this region.
