The Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah have struck again in the Palmyra (Tadmur) countryside, liberating another important mountaintop that overlooks the ancient city’s western gates.

According to a battlefield correspondent that is embedded with the government forces near Palmyra, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah imposed full control over Jabal Musharif after a late night battle with the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS).

Under the cover of darkness, the Syrian Arab Army’s “Tiger Forces – backed by Hezbollah, the Syrian Marines, the Desert Hawks Brigade, and Liwaa Imam ‘Ali (Iraqi paramilitary) – carried out a night assault on ISIS’ defenses near Palmyra’s western gates, killing several enemy combatants and confiscating a large cache of weapons from the aforementioned terrorist group.

The large cache of weapons that was confiscated by the Syrian Armed Forces tonight included several assault rifles, rockets, explosive materials, munitions, and telecommunication devices.

In addition to capturing Jabal Musharif, the Syrian Armed Forces and Hezbollah liberated two hilltops near Jabal Hayyal tonight, moving them closer to the Qatari Royal Villa and the Palmyra Orchards.
