BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:50 P.M.) – The Syrian Army (SAA) scored perhaps one of their most important victories this month, as their troops managed to liberate the entire Islamic State (ISIS) pocket near the T-2 Pumping Station.
According to a military report from Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army fully liberated and secured the entire Islamic State pocket that was located between east Homs and the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
The report specified that the Islamic State pocket stretched from the southeastern countryside of the Homs Governorate to the area between Mazi’lah region of Deir Ezzor.
As a result of this advance, the Syrian Arab Army managed to liberate more than 1,200 square kilometers of territory that was occupied by the Islamic State since the Summer of 2014.
The Syrian Arab Army killed more than 50 Islamic State terrorists during this operation, while also destroyed at least ten vehicles as well.
The Islamic State used this vast desert area to launch several attacks against the Syrian Arab Army and their allies in the past.
However, with the collapse of their pocket in this region of the country, ISIS will now be under more pressure at the remaining areas they control.
