BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued its march along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, today, liberating a new town located near the strategic Al-‘Omar Oil Fields.

Backed by heavy artillery from the 113th and 137th brigades of the 17th Division, the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Legion was able to overrun the Islamic State’s (ISIL) positions east of recently liberated Marat in order to score a big advance at nearby Mazloum.

According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army took full control of Mazloum this afternoon following a fierce battle with the Islamic State.

With Mazloum liberated today, the Syrian Arab Army has now built a buffer around their positions along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River.
