BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:51 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army and allied paramilitaries are rushing massive reinforcements to the Euphrates valley region within Deir Ezzor province in what early reports are saying is preparation for an all-out offensive against US-backed forces.

Already, military-affiliated sources note that Syrian Army sentries have stepped up patrols along the west Euphrates bank whilst engineering units have been building new fortified areas and trenches.

Likewise, US-backed forces have reportedly been increasing their presence along the east shore of the river.

The development comes one week after US coalition warplanes attacked Syrian pro-government forces near the army-held town of Khasham on the east Euphrates shore, killing at least 50 troops (with some sources saying the death toll exceeded one hundred).

According to Al-Masdar News journalist Ibrahim Joudeh, the chances of at least a small confrontation between the Syrian Army and US-backed forces – clarified as a ‘limited offensive’ by pro-government troops to recapture some oilfields – throughout the Euphrates valley region is quite likely in the weeks or months to come.

This must also mean that the necessary air defences will be in place as well to dissuade US air attacks.

Exactly, and, since Russia is somewhat limited in it’s response the US’s massacre on Russian contractors or merc’s (we don’t know which for sure yet) till after the election in April the first, this is rather surprising but inconceivable. Syrian minister Mikdad hinted something to the effect that after the eliminated zionazi jet, rules of engagement has changed and US intrusions wont go unpunished from now on and Russia could assist Syrian air defences by “painting” US jet just to underline. In any case, Russia has hit places swarming with CIA agents and merc’s before and hitting SDF cuttroaths and… Read more »

it’s the home desert offensive, it’d be suicidal to go against the SDF without massive air-defences from the russians

I’m sure there will be solid air defence this time. Five Pantzirs would be ok.

If Russia defends the Syrian government forces against the US, there will be no WW3. The US is the aggressor and the invader of Syrian sovereign land. Both the Syrian government and Rusia have every legal right sanctioned by the UN charter and according to international law to throw the US out by force and the US cannot do anything about it. But Russia will do nothing of the sort because it is a coward.

This is fake news. Russia has surrendered all of Easter Deir Ezzur to the US and this was in 2015. After the latest US aggression against the Syrian government forces Russia did not condemn the US aggression. On the contrary, it washed its hands and made like an apology saying it had not been informed about the intention of the Syrian government forces to attack ISIS aka SDF there. So no air cover by Russia and no operation by the SAA. This news could be spread by the same terrorist SDF to promt the US to attack the Syrian Government… Read more »

Bad move if saa advance against sdf, they will be destroyed by america. America is using its full force and no one is any match for them. Destroying the foolish saa offensive was also a message to Turkey to stay away from manjib. I am pro saa , but ofcourse usa was going to destroy the offendive. Greed of oil for personal gsin has cost the lives of many good saa soldiers. USA is in a seriously tough mood at the moment and any saa commander sending in soldiers to attack sdf is complicite in murder of there own soldiets.… Read more »
