BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:10 P.M.) – At approximately noon (Damascus Time), the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) captured the strategic town of Mesraba in the East Ghouta region of Damascus.
According to local reports, the Syrian Army was able to overpower the Islamist rebels at Mesraba after several hours of intense fighting that began last night.
As a result of Mesraba’s capture, the Syrian Arab Army has nearly split the East Ghouta.
In addition to splitting the East Ghouta, the Syrian Arab Army is on the verge of lifting the siege on the vehicle management base in the Harasta suburb.
The Syrian Army will now work to secure their gains and push into Harasta’s southeastern corridor.
Correction: A military source informed Al-Masdar that the East Ghouta pocket has not yet been split.
