The Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces and Republican Guard carried out a surprise military operation in southeastern Aleppo on Thursday afternoon that targeted Jabhat Al-Nusra’s (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) defensive positions at Jabal Hoss.

According to an Al-Masdar correspondent in Damascus, the Syrian Armed Forces liberated this small mountaintop in the western countryside of the Khanasser Plains after a violent battle with Jabhat Al-Nusra and their allies from Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham.

With Jabal Hoss under their control, the Syrian Armed Forces have now built a comfortable buffer-zone around the Khanasser-Aleppo Highway that leads to the provincial capital.

The Khanasser-Aleppo Highway is the Syrian government’s only supply route to the Aleppo Governorate; if lost, they will be once again under siege.

This map shows East Aleppo near Kweires air base, but the story is about a hilltop near Kanasser in Southeast Aleppo.

This is directly east of Aleppo, and maybe even slightly north. Just south-east of Soran, which looks to be the SAA target for encirclement.

Wrong map my friends, this is East Aleppo, you clearly sees Aleppo – Raqqa highway, then Lake Assad-Aleppo water chanel, then finaly Shiekh Najar industrial district on the left. This is front with IS, rebel militants are on the south. Keep good work, update map, friendly note, cheers.
