Minutes ago in the Latakia Governorate’s northern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade of the Republican Guard – backed by the 48th Special Forces Regiment andd the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – reportedly advanced to Jabal Al-Tafahiyat near the Turkish border-crossing after a violent battle with Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and Jaysh Al-Turkmen (Turkmen Army).
Jabal Al-Tafahiyat is an important mountain that overlooks the Turkish border with the Latakia Governorate; it is one of the last mountaintops under the control of the extremist rebel forces in Jabal Al-Turkmen (Turkmen) Mountains.
The Syrian Armed Forces have restarted their operations in the Latakia Governorate’s northern countryside after taking a brief hiatus to transfer over 1,000 military personnel from Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade) and Fouj Al-Mughawayr Al-Bahir (Syrian Marines) to the Palmyra (Tadmur) front in east Homs.
It was recently reported that the Syrian Armed Forces would concentrate on the liberation of Palmyra before they would storm the rebel stronghold of Jisr Al-Shughour in the Idlib Governorate.
