At 10:30 P.M. (Damascus Time) on Tuesday night, the Syrian Arab Army’s 106th Brigade of the Republican Guard – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) from Mhardeh and Sqaylabiyah – captured three towns from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra and their allies from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Jund Al-Aqsa inside the Al-Ghaab Plains of the Hama Governorate.
This surprise assault by the Syrian Armed Forces led to the capture of Al-Mansoura, Khirbat Al-Naqous, and Tal Wassit in the eastern countryside of the Al-Ghaab Plains.
The Syrian Armed Forces first captured Al-Mansoura after engaging the militants of Jabhat Al-Nusra, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, and Jund Al-Aqsa in a series of intense clashes at the southwestern axis of the town.
Following their capture of Al-Mansoura, the Syrian Armed Forces swept through the towns of Khirbat Al-Naqous and Tal Wassit, killing dozen enemy combatants and destroying three armored vehicles mounted with 14.5mm anti-aircraft machine guns.
As of recently, the Syrian Armed Forces have chosen to attack the militants of Jabhat Al-Nusra and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham under the cover of night; this is due to the decreased visibility, allowing their infantrymen to slip past the enemy combatants; this has become the Syrian Armed Forces’ new approach to tackling the Islamist militants possessing anti-tank TOW missiles.
