BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:15 A.M.) – A drone was shot down by the Russian military at the Hmaymim Airport tonight after they were seen approaching the aforementioned installation in southwest Latakia.

According to a military report, the unknown drone was approaching the Hmaymim Airport from its northeastern perimeter; this prompted the Russian Air Defense to down the unmanned aircraft.

No group has claimed responsibility for this downed drone.

Recently, the Russian military reopened the Hmaymim Airport to commercial flights, as the installation was declared safe.

However, if this drone was planning to attack the airport, it is likely that the Russian military will close off the installation to these flights for security reasons.
