BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:45 P.M.) – The Russian chopper that went down over the eastern countryside of the Hama Governorate was not shot down by the Islamic State (ISIS), the Russian Ministry of Defense stated this afternoon.

According to the Ministry of Defense, the Russian Mi-28 helicopter was escorting troopers in eastern Hama when it was forced to make an emergency landing – the reason for this landing was not given.

However, the ministry did emphasize that the chopper was not struck by terrorists, despite claims by the Islamic State’s official media wing.

In regards to the crew on board, they are reported to be of good health and not in any present danger.

“The life and health of the pilots is not in danger. According to the report of the crew and after the inspection of the vehicle, there was no fire impact on the helicopter,” the Russian military said.
