The Russian Air Force has conducted a number of airstrikes over the Hama Governorate’s northern countryside this morning, striking the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army’s 101st Brigade, Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Liwaa Suqour Al-Ghaab, and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” at the cities of Kafr Zita, Kafr Naboudeh, Latmeen, and Al-Lataminah.

At the request of the Syrian Arab Army’s 87th Brigade of the 10th Tank Division and the National Defense Forces (NDF), the Russian Air Force carried out specific airstrikes that targeted the aforementioned cities inside northern Hama in order to propel the Syrian Armed Forces past the frontline defenses of the Islamist rebels entrenched at these rugged sites.

According to a military source in the city of Mhardeh (northern Hama), the Syrian Armed Forces have specifically requested airstrikes over Kafr Naboudeh; this city is located northwest of Kafr Zita and at the neck of the northern Hama salient that borders the Idlib Governorate.

The northern Hama salient has become the scene of some of the most violent battles taking place in Syria; this front will likely intensify in the coming days as the Russian Air Force continues to target Jabhat Al-Nusra and their allies with relentless airstrikes.

This is a Civilized Place for Public Discussion

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

Great news! May the Russian planes blow the h**l out of any F-16s or any other planes that attack Syrian infrastructure or pro-Assad troops and facilities.
