BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:45 P.M.) – The Russian Air Force unleashed a barrage of airstrikes over the Aleppo countryside this afternoon, a military source told Al-Masdar News from the provincial capital.
According to the military source, the Russian Air Force targeted the jihadist positions in southern and western Aleppo in response to the chemical weapons attack carried out by the rebels last night.
The source added that the Russian Air Force is still striking the jihadist positions at this moment, while the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) moves reinforcements towards the western Aleppo front-lines.
Today’s airstrikes by the Russian Air Force marks the first time since the Sochi Agreement that they have carried out strikes against the rebels.
Last night, the rebel forces launched several chlorine shells towards the provincial capital of Aleppo, causing more than 100 casualties as result.
