BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:25 P.M.) – The Russian Air Force has launched their first airstrikes of the year in Syria, targeting a number of towns controlled by the jihadist rebels in west Aleppo.

According to a Syrian military source in Aleppo city, the Russian Air Force bombed Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s newly established positions inside the towns of Dart Izza, Kafr Naha, and Sheikh Suleiman.

The source said that the Russian Air Force bombed these towns in response to the large-scale offensive that was launched by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham in the western countryside of the Aleppo Governorate.

Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham captured most of west Aleppo this week after launching a big offensive against their former allies from Harakat Nouriddeen Al-Zinki.

The aforementioned Turkish-backed rebel group is now on the verge of complete capitulation in western Aleppo.
