BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:50 A.M.) – The Russian Aerospace Forces launched their first airstrikes over southwest Syria this week, a military source told Al-Masdar News tonight.
According to the military source, the Russian Aerospace Forces launched over 20 airstrikes across the southern part of the Daraa Governorate, hitting several sites under the control of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham.
The source added that these Russian airstrikes specifically targeted areas where the rebel forces are fighting the Syrian Arab Army and National Defense Forces (NDF).
In addition to the Russian airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) has also launched several attacks across the Daraa Governorate, with their primary focus being the area around the town of Tafas.
The Syrian Army is currently engaged in a fierce battle with the Free Syrian Army and their allies at the eastern axis of Tafas, as the rebel forces refuse to surrender this important to the government troops.
Meanwhile, at the provincial capital, the Syrian Army is heavily bombarding the rebel defenses inside the Daraa Al-Balad District.
The Syrian Army is attempting to weaken the rebel defenses with surface-to-surface missiles at the Daraa Al-Balad District before launching their ground assault.
Lastly, the Syrian Army is currently clashing with the rebel forces at the Saida axis in east Daraa; they are attempting to expel the rebels from this town in order to reach nearby Al-Naimah.
