BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:40 P.M.) – Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on Monday that any group allied with the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham is considered a legitimate target.

“In the East Ghouta and Idlib province, a number of groups considered ‘moderates’ by western nations, such as Ahrar Al-Sham and Jaysh Al-Islam, continue to cooperate with the terrorist group (Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham) named in the latest U.N. resolution,” Lavrov stated.

“This circumstance makes the allies of the Al-Nusra Front (now HTS) unprotected by the ceasefire regime,” Lavrov continued.

“They are also subject to legitimate actions by the Syrian Armed Forces and all those who support the Syrian Army,” he added.

Lavrov’s comments come just 48 hours after the 30 day ceasefire was announced via the latest U.N. resolution.
