After a week of bloody clashes in Syria, a brief truce will now take place in East Ghouta (Damascus) and Latakia in just a few hours.

The ceasefire is set to begin from 1:00 a.m. on Saturday and will last just one day in the capital’s eastern suburbs and three days in the Latakian countryside.

Russian news agencies quoted an opposition figure saying the new truce would also apply to Aleppo, but al-Masdar News is not able to confirm this.

This regional peace deal comes as hundreds have been killed in Aleppo city which has witnessed heavy bombardment over the past week.

Truces have only served to rearm the rebels. This is a wrong of Russia and Syrian government.

I don’t understand why they never request your opinion and take orders from you. You seem to know it all.

The SAA strategy contradicts itself. First this news https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/syrian-army-begins-huge-offensive-capture-last-rebel-areas-latakia-map-update/ then… oh but we’ll give our enemy 3 days of no bombing so they can re-group to defend and re-capture other points. The stupid thing is, they are giving terrorists a breathing space for those lovely ManPads to arrive.

Well, first, it may help a lot of civilians to go out of the combat zones or if they can’t, at least do some errands without beeing shelled and then have food supply, maybe reinforce their homes and things like that… Secondly, there are efficient counter masures against ManPADS, now you find it even on civilian aircrafts. In a five year conflicts now, only 1 aircraft has been shot down by a shoulder-missile, BTW, if you take the Afghanistan russian case, once they installed flares on all the aircrafts, the downings nearly totally ceased… Another point is that the best… Read more »
