BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:50 P.M.) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated during a cabinet meeting this morning that he discussed several topics with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, including Iran’s presence inside Syria.
“I reiterated our guiding principles regarding Syria. First of all, Iran needs to withdraw from all of Syria,” Netanyahu stated, as quoted by Ynet News.
“Second, we will take action – and are already taking action – against efforts to establish a militarily presence by Iran and its proxies in Syria both close to the border and deep inside Syria,” asserted the prime minister at the beginning of a cabinet meeting,” he added.
Netanyahu and his Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman have repeatedly stated in the past that they are ready to take action to prevent Iran from establishing a permanent presence inside Syria.
