BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:00 A.M.) – Minutes ago, the Turkish-backed militants claimed that their forces struck a Syrian Air Force jet over the northern countryside of the Hama Governorate this morning.

According to the militant claim, their fighters fired an anti-aircraft missile (MANPADS) at a Syrian L-39 jet, scoring a direct hit on the warplane.

The militants alleged that the Syrian jet was forced to make an emergency landing at the nearby Hama Airbase shortly after their missile hit the aircraft.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense has not commented on this latest claim by the Turkish-backed militants.

Scored a direct hit and fighter jet forced to land at the airfield base? This is “The Definition of Direct Hit”?

Nope. In case of direct hit, even a A-10 is unlikely to survive (although some did, it depends where it hits : if it’s one of the tails or the outer wing, the A-10 may get away with it.

IMHO, the aircraft was damaged by shrapnel in a non critical area.
Nevertheless, it’s a pity there are no DIRCM and flares dispensers onboard
