BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:15 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has officially liberated the Islamic State’s (ISIS) last stronghold, Albukamal, this evening, a military source told Al-Masdar News.

Led by the Syrian Army and Hashd Al-Sha’abi (Iraqi paramilitary), the government forces entered Albukamal from its eastern perimeter after the Iraqi government permitted an assault from the neighboring city of Al-Qa’im.

ISIS was then forced to withdraw from the city towards the western countryside of Albukamal after the Syrian Arab Army and their allies broke-through their defenses in the eastern part of the city.

With Albukamal’s liberation tonight, the Syrian Arab Army has taken control of all major cities in the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

The Syrian Army and their allies will not concentrate on the Al-Mayadeen and Albukamal countrysides in a bid to end the Islamic State’s presence in Syria.

Without lying this news has just rejuvenated me for at least 20 years.
Words do not suffice to congratulate the SAA and its faithful and brave allies who spared no effort and willingness to join together for a common good.
May God continue to fill them with victory and blessings of a lot.

The SAA and all their allies will be able to say to the world, ‘We fought against all odds and the wealthiest nations on earth for the Freedom of Syria and the destruction of US/Israeli terrorist hegemony in the Middle East.

” The Syrian Army and their allies # will not # concentrate on the Al-Mayadeen and ”

This must be a translation error surely ?

I think the word “not” was supposed to be “now” hence the “Syrian Arab Army will now concentrate on the Al-Bukamal and Al-Mayadeen countryside…”

Noticed a small typo in the last paragraph:”The Syrian Army and their allies will not concentrate on the Al-Mayadeen and Albukamal countrysides..” I assume that it is meant to read “The Syrian Army…will now concentrate on the Al-Mayadeen and Albukamal countrysides”
Regarding the event, this is a milestone and a great achievement but sadly ISIS will in the short term probably become a more effective force as now that the pretense of territorial control has been dropped they can concentrate on raids and terror bombings, actions that are more suited to the resources available to them.
