DAMASCUS, SYRIA (1:30 P.M.) – Moments ago, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) entered the western sector of Raqqa city after liberating the last village on this flank yesterday.

According to a Kurdish source close to Al-Masdar News, the SDF has already stormed and captured dozens of building blocks in the Sabahiya district.

With heavy clashes also underway on the opposite side of Raqqa city, reports are emerging that ISIS is forcibly recruiting Arab residents of the provincial capital to take up arms against the Kurdish-led forces.

Although two neighborhoods are contested, ISIS remains in control of roughly 90% of Raqqa, the self-proclaimed capital of the Islamic State.

Elsewhere in the Tabqa region, ISIS retook the villages of Al-Ajrawi and Dahr ar Rujum in a rare advance that serves to safe-guard its nearby oil and gas fields.
