BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:40 P.M.) – A Jordanian official stated on Friday evening that a ceasefire has been reached in southern Syria, ReutersT reported.
Citing “confirmed reports,” the Jordanian official said that the ceasefire will ultimately lead to a reconciliation agreement between the opposition and government in southern Syria.
he source did not elaborate further on the reports of an agreement in the territory where Syrian government forces have been waging an offensive to regain rebel-held territory since last week, Reuters said.
It also quoted Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Lebanese Hezbollah, as saying on Friday that a “very big victory” was near in south Syria.
An army offensive has reportedly made rapid gains against insurgents in the area.
