BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:29 P.M.) – Moments ago, Syrian air defenses engaged Israeli jets flying over Lebanese airspace which were inbound to attack the Syrian capital of Damascus.

According to Israeli military sources, the Israeli warplanes responded to the threat by targeting and destroying the SA-5 anti-aircraft missile battery that attacked them. The battery was positioned east of Damascus.

Syrian air defense forces confirm that they fired on Israeli jets, however have not commented on whether or not they lost an anti-aircraft battery.

Israel warplanes only ever fly over Lebanese airspace for one reason, and that is to attack Syrian pro-government forces in the west of the country.

This is the international equivilent of someone smashing the keyboard when they lose.

Israel lashing out at Syria because Iraqi forces are just about to take Kirkuk back from Israel’s proxy forces. No more cheap Iraqi oil for Israel.

The Russians should sell some decent military radar and S-400 systems to Lebanon like they are doing with Saudi Arabia and Turkey. That way the Lebanese can protect their country from a repeat devastation caused by Israeli bombing during the 2006 Lebanon(Israeli-Hezbollah) War. I’m sure all sides of the political divide in Lebanon would appreciate the Russians doing so.

Told you that the Israelis would violate Lebanese airspace to attack Syrian regime positions. Obviously the Russians are in charge of the S-300 and S-400 batteries as they didn’t use them against the Israeli jets. The Israeli action occurs now as the Syrian regime is trying to remove HTS and the Israeli backed al-Nusra terrorists in the Syrian held part of the Golan Heights. The Israelis don’t want the Syrians back on the line of demarcation as that would provide a continuous held Syrian territory up to the line and hence put the Israeli seized part of the Golan Heights… Read more »

Israelis won’t let Golan Heights go again. Syria took Golan from ’em in 1948 then used it to shell far into Israel for 19 years until Israelis took it back in 1967. This will never happen. Hafeez al-Assad considered a peace treaty in 1994, but backed-up by fear from being assassinated by Ba’ath party hard-liners… In fact, Israel missed a great opportunity by not listening to just retired former air-marshall Eshel who wanted to launch a massive aerial campaign against IS and Nusra. Had they done this, the peace treaty would have been secured as they have 10x more strike… Read more »

‘Strangely just after..’
Not strangely, but because of.
Israel was not a jewish project when it was first planned and still is a buffer state for the AA empire. Their ‘own’ agendas always have a good overlap with the interests of the said empire, so the jewish talk (in hebrew) about them controlling the US attains the semblance of plausibility.
If and when the empire falls appart, the transition period may see changes in that pattern but then, the Israelies, left to their own devices, would probably become a normal player rather than a rogue one.

Lebanon has never been properly de-colonized – they still retain the political straightjacket in the form of compulsory religious postings in the presidency, speaker, etc. Otherwise, Hezbollah would likely run the whole government – in which case they could request Russian S-X00 systems and even their own air force to prevent the humiliating Zionist airspace violations. These attacks by Bibi still only amount to tantrums, however – and the fact that he was unable to win concessions from Putin regarding Iran is the cause of the current stupid blunders by Trump regarding the IRGC and nuclear deal. Now Iran can… Read more »
