Moments ago, news broke out that Iraqi Army’s 9th Armored Division captured Ajhala village, north of the recently Qayyarah Airbase around noon today.

Assisting the 9th Division were the elite Iraqi Special Forces and the Popular Mobilization untis (PMU). US advisors were also highly involved in the offensive according to Khalid Al-Obeidi, Iraq’s Defense Minister.

This massive advance cut off ISIS’s supply lines from the Hawija bastion to the rest of the Islamic State-held territories. Thereby, over a hundred villages are now besieged along with hundreds if not thousands of ISIS terrorists cut off from Mosul and Syria.

This development may be the biggest blow to the IS terror group this year. Losing Fallujah, Hit, Ramadi, Shaddadi, Rutba, and soon Manbij, ISIS have never been in a more dire and desperate state as their fronts collapse one by one everywhere.

Sadly Daesh isn’t the only problem in Iraq. The Peshmerga and the so-called “Shia” militias are also a problem alongside the corrupt gov. Get rid of em all, and Iraq will become peaceful. h**l, I believe Yunis Al-Ahmad from Al-Awda may be a good idea for Iraq instead of Al-Douri and co, amongst others. The latter may have shot himself in the foot for letting his men work with daaesh despite agree secretly to work with the gov to destroy daaesh supposedly so they say. At least Younis is willing to pick up where the Ba’ath in Iraq left off… Read more »

its idiotic to fight against Peshmerga, if they are oblivious interested in a peacefull outcome with more individual rights, maybe even independence with peace trusts to support each other. they are diplomatic. dont p**s them off and you can secure peace….and Iraq NEED peace..
The Shia militia is a larger problem and the influence of foreigners in iraq (USA/Russia/Iran/turkey) isnt really helping.

But one thing is secured. Kurds and iraqish troops will liberate mossul maybe this year or at the beginning of the next year..2017 IS will be dead and buried in iraq.

Great news but can you please add a key to the maps so it is easy to know which colour is which group. and please put the town names in black ink so it contrasts better or maybe against a white background tile.

Those two improvements will help everyone.
