BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:30 A.M.) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) clashed with a group unknown assailants inside west Raqqa this morning, local activists reported.
According to the reports, the SDF was attacked by a group of unknown assailants near the Church Roundabout (var. Dawar Al-Kiniseh) in Tabaqa city.
The reports added that the clashes are still ongoing as the Syrian Democratic Forces attempt to clear out these unknown assailants from the Church Roundabout area.
No further details were released at this time.
Tabaqa city was captured by the Syrian Democratic Forces during their 2017 campaign against the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization in the Al-Raqqa Governorate.
Since its capture, the Syrian Democratic Forces have attempted to restore Tabaqa city and its surrounding area, while also working establish local councils to govern this part of Al-Raqqa.
