BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:35 P.M.) – Elite forces of the Syrian Arab Army have arrived at the gates of a major jihadist stronghold situated in the southeastern countryside of Idlib province following the capture of three towns en-route to it earlier on.
In the last several hours, the elite Tiger Forces Division of the Syrian Arab Army re-commenced its assault on the Sinjar axis, blasting its way throughout militant defenses south of jihadist-held fortress town.
In quick succession, assault units of Tiger Forces swooped through the towns of Sheikh Barakah, Hawa and Um Muwylat Al-Janoubyah, relinquishing them from the occupation of jihadist-led militias.
An additional attack in the area also saw Syrian troops take control of the hilltop of Tal Umarah.
By this advance, the Tiger Forces have reached the southern gates of the strategic crossroad town of Sinjar which serves as a major base for the Al-Qaeda-linked Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) terrorist group.
