BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:00 P.M.) – Elite forces of the Syrian Arab Army continue their relentless drive against jihadist-led militias throughout the lush countryside of southeastern Idlib province, capturing in recent hours some four settlements.

According to military-affiliated sources, the Syrian Arab Army’s elite Tiger Forces Division and 4th Mechanized Division have captured no less than four towns and villages – in about as many hours time – from jihadist-led militias in Idlib’s southeastern country since launching a fresh assault against militant defenses on Thursday morning.

The settlements have been identified as Rasm Abyad, Fuhayl, Mushayrifah and Luwaybidat.

The Syrian Army’s assault was backed up by a wealth of supporting arms fire from howitzers, rocket artillery and warplanes.

As with advances made in previous days, Syrian assault troops appear to be driving northwards towards the key crossroad town of Sinjar and perhaps furthermore onto the strategic Abu Duhur military airport which was captured by jihadist armed groups in September 2015.
