BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:25 A.M.) – The Syriac Military Council announced this morning that they will send reinforcements to the Afrin Canton to help in the defense of this region.

“Breaking: #Syriac Military Council, MFS will send fighters to the #Afrin front in support of SDF-YPG/J to the defense of the region and populations against Turkey & allied forces. #Syria (more info & statement will follow),” the Syriac Military Council’s official Twitter account posted this morning.

The Syriac Military Council’s Suturo forces have taken part in several battles against the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in past, including a number of offensives in the Al-Hasakah and Al-Raqqa governorates.

The Suturo forces are comprised of Assyrian locals from the Al-Hasakah Governorate; in particular, the Al-Qamishli and Khabour region.

It appears that the US has put pressure on the Kurdish element of the SDF NOT to send Kurds to Afrin and instead foreign volunteers and other non Kurd groups are being sent into battle there.

All of this I suspect is an attempt by the US to avoid supporting their new found SDF allies , or betraying them as the US has often done with her allies .
