Moments ago, an unidentified militant drove his vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBEID) into the decrepit Air Force Intelligence building in the Al-Zahra Association Quarter of Aleppo City.
The suicide attack prompted the militant groups that make-up “Ansar Al-Shari’ah” to storm the Syrian Arab Army’s positions inside the Al-Zahra Association Quarter, where they are attempting to benefit from the suicide operation’s damage.
According to a social media activists from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra,” the suicide operation was planned and executed by one their militants; however, they did not specify the individual, but they did take credit for the “martyrdom” operation.
Following the suicide attack at the Air Force Intelligence building, firefights erupted between the Syrian Arab Army and the militants from Jabhat Al-Nusra at the Great Prophet Mosque after the aforementioned group launched another attempt to take control of this strategic area in west Aleppo.
South of the Al-Zahra Association Quarter, the Syrian Arab Army and the militants from Ansar Al-Shari’ah continue to clash near the imperative Scientific Research Facility on the outskirts of the New Aleppo Quarter.
Both of the aforementioned parties are currently engaged in a tug-of-war battle for control of the Scientific Research Facility; it is an imperative building that sits directly west of the New Aleppo Quarter and its location provides access to the Al-Rashiddeen Quarter as well.
Intermittent clashes have been reported between Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and the National Defense Forces (NDF) at the Khalidiyah-Layramoun axis in northern Aleppo; however, there has been no map change, according to a military source in the Al-Ashrafiyah Quarter.
