Violent clashes erupted in the city of Aleppo on Friday night, as the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” – in coordination with Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen and Jabhat Al-Shamiyah – attacked the Old Aleppo neighborhood of Bab Hadeed, firing a barrage of mortar shells and rockets into this area before they attempted to infiltrate past the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) defenses.

Firefights are ongoing on the outskirts of Bab Hadeed; however, there is no confirmation of who possesses the upper ground, as the fighting continues late into the evening.

Jabhat Al-Nusra and their allies have also attacked the Maysaloun Neighborhood, where they stormed the National Defense Forces (NDF) checkpoint at the northern axis, attempting to breach the latter’s fortifications – firefights are still ongoing.

In the Al-Suleimaniyeh Neighborhood, the militants from Jabhat Al-Shamiyah launched a multitude of rockets into this predominately Armenian area, as Christian civilians were attending late night mass in honor of Good Friday.

Al-Masdar News was able to get through to a source in the New Aleppo Quarter, who stated that a number of civilians have been rushed to the Al-Suleimaniyeh Hospital following the rocket attacks.

The source also added that at least one person has been declared dead, with the fate of many others unknown due to the ongoing firefights north of Al-Klass Street in the Al-Suleimaniyeh.

More information to come…

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
