Some 7,000 armed police with heavy vehicles have surrounded and blocked the Incirlik Air Base in Adana used by NATO forces, already restricted in the aftermath of a failed coup.

Pictures have emerged showing large trucks entering the airbase with the Turkish police subsequently closing the entrance and exit of the airbase.

Rumours suggest the police were deployed to halt a suspected 2nd coup although this is unconfirmed for now.

No further details have emerged yet.

Incirlik Air Base houses American soldiers, represents an important base for NATO and is utilized by the U.S.-led anti-ISIS coalition to carry out airstrikes on ISIS.

However, coup soldiers were said to have used the base as a coordination center, causing the Turkish Government to temporarily close the site and arrest its commander at the time.

Turkey has a standing force of over 400,000 troops (more than France and UK combined).

America has just 1581 total troops in Turkey.

Turkey has enough anti-air defense to create an area of denial to NATO air power. Those 40 F/A-18s wouldn’t even make it to the coast line. Would take a force at least ten times larger before Turkish air-defense would be overwhelmed (and then only till they got their 200+ fighters, and 400+ helicopters in the air.

Are you on drugs? Turkey is home to NATO’s second largest Armed force after the US Armed Forces. Their modern combat aircraft fleet also dwarfs those of many NATO allies combined. Add to this the fact that they have access to Pakistani Nukes and Advanced delivery systems and this is a recipe for disaster. The NATO command needs to de-escalate this situation immediately otherwise we will witness a massive shift in global power to our detriment. NATO’s very existence is at stake here.

No fun : USS Eisenhower is around and there are more than 40 F/A-18 aboard…
Just a few A-10 and F-15E in Incirik, some refuellers and probably 1 or 2 EC-135 for ELINT/COMINT, maybe E-8 J-STARS too : impossible to distinguish one from the other on sat-pics.

And due to the turmoil, I wouldn’t be to sure they let the 60 tac-nux in Incirik anyway…
And the A-10s and F-15s are probably already in the air with a refueller, I bet the USS Eisenhower is ready to react fast too…

Fanboy? You genuinely do not know the capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces. Turkey is not a country you can take with one carrier group. You won’t get past the Strait of Gibraltar or the Suez canal.

You are assuming Turkey will use the entirety of the Nukes. All Turkey needs is the fissile material in them. The Turks have advanced delivery systems. For gods sake they sell us missiles these days! Right…..a “regime change” or “retirement” is in order here. This is what American government does to any country which wants to remain sovereign. NATO members can’t. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.

Is it possible for Turkey to exit NATO and expell all foreign troops?
Maybe with Rusia’s and Iran’s backups, and with China’s approval…

The most likely to happen to Turkey is being dumped from NATO.
Russia and Iran backing up Gollum? Do you smoke crack? They’re more likely to kick Gollum’s b**t 😉 Gollum will end in the mountain of Doom’s lava with his ‘precious’… Or more probably with concrete shoes in the Bosphorus…

Mr. Erdogan has a meeting with Mr. Putin and Mr. Jinping on August 8. All these coup attempts aim to prevent that meeting. Russia-China-Turkey-Iran it seems are forming an Alliance.

Finally realizing that NATO is responsible for the “coups” and “uprisings” in sovereign countries? NATO is a criminal organization. The Turkish government isn’t much better but NATO kills people worldwide.
