The top field commander for the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) in the Deir Ezzor Governorate was reportedly killed by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on Monday when his unit launched a large-scale offensive to seize the provincial capital.

One day after killed Salahiddeen Al-Beljiki, the Syrian Armed Forces also reported the death of another ISIS field command “Sayaf Al-Baqawi” (AKA “Sayaf Al-Mughrabi).

Al-Baqawi’s was a Moroccan national that led ISIS’ “Al-Bitar Battalions” in the battle for the Deir Ezzor Governorate – his death was reported to the Moroccan authorities after the identification process.
