BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) scored a big advance in central Syria, yesterday, liberating the entire Al-Kom region near the Al-Raqqa Governorate’s provincial border.
Using the momentum from their airborne operation this past weekend, the Syrian Arab Army rapidly advanced through several kilometers of desert terrain to retake most of the Homs Governorate’s northeastern countryside.
With Al-Kom under their control, the Syrian Arab Army will now turn their attention to the Taybah area, which is where the Islamic State will make their last stand on the provincial borders of Homs and Al-Raqqa.
However, the Islamic State is not likely going to give-up Taybah very quickly, as they have sent a large force to this area to obstruct the Syrian Army’s advance.
