BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has officially taken control of the rebel-held pocket in western Daraa, a military source told Al-Masdar this evening.

According to the military source, the Syrian Army took control of the last ten towns under rebel control in western Daraa, effectively ending their battle against them after three weeks of intense fighting.

Meanwhile, in the Al-Quneitra Governorate, the Syrian Arab Army seized the jihadist stronghold of Nabe’ Al-Sakhar near the western axis of the Daraa Governorate.

The Syrian Army was able to take control of Nabe’ Al-Sakhar after the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham retreated from the area.

In addition to capturing Nabe’ Al-Sakhar, the Syrian Army took control of the rebel-held towns of  Murab’at, Rasm Khawalid, Matihat, and Mumtanah in eastern Al-Quneitra.

As of today, the Syrian Army has secured the once rebel-held provincial border of Al-Quneitra and Daraa after only three weeks of battle.

The Syrian Army will now shift their attention to the large Islamic State (ISIS) pocket in the Yarmouk Basin region of southwest Daraa.
