BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:45 A.M.) – The jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, Faylaq Al-Rahman, and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham launched a massive operation in eastern Damascus on Sunday that resulted in a significant advance for their forces against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
However, this assault would also prove costly for the jihadist rebels, as dozens of their fighters were killed trying to take control of the Alboumar Garages in the Al-‘Abbasiyeen suburb of east Damascus.
At the same time, the Syrian Arab Army suffered their fair share of casualties in east Damascus on Sunday, with dozens of soldiers reportedly killed after the jihadist rebels launched two successful suicide attacks in western Jobar.
According to a military source in Damascus, Sunday’s battle was the bloodiest battle to take place across Syria this year, as 100+ Syrian Army soldiers and jihadist rebels were killed in under 24 hours.
The Syrian Arab Army launched a powerful counter-assault tonight to recapture the territory the lost on Sunday; however, they have only made minimal gains at the moment.
