BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 P.M.) – A huge oil pipeline explosion seared the skies over Buri in northern Bahrain on Friday.

The Bahraini government has decried the blast as ‘terrorist sabotage’ linked to Iran, which is a charge which the Iranian government denies.

Bahraini authorities confirmed that residents had been evacuated and firefighters were able to control the blaze.

Tensions continue to grow between Shia dominated Iran and its Sunni neighbours in the Gulf region. Although Bahrain is majority-Shia, it is ruled by a Sunni royal family.
