Baghdad – Iraqi Ministry of Health shared today that 11 children were killed in a fire that broke out in al-Yarmouk Hospital foyer in western Baghdad. 36 patients so far have been evacuated to other hospitals.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Health Ahmed al-Rodini said, “The fire, which broke out last night in one of the foyers of Yarmouk Hospital in western Baghdad, killed 11 newborn children and damaged the foyer to a large extent.”
Rodini added, “Civil Defense teams managed to douse the fire and evacuated 29 women and 7 children to other hospitals. The fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.’
