The Assyrian-led “Nineveh Protection Units” launched a successful assault against the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham” (ISIS) in the southern Mosul countryside on Thursday, liberating the village of Badanah from the terrorist forces.

Joining the Iraqi Army in their fight to liberate the historical city of Mosul, the Nineveh Protection Units have proven to be a formidable force against the Islamic State terrorists.

For the Assyrians, this fight to liberate Mosul is a personal one: ISIS not only occupies their ancestral lands, but the aforementioned terrorist group has attempted to destroy much of their history.

The Assyrians and their militia, Dwekh Nawsha / NPU (I haven’t heard of them referring to themselves as NPU for years) received most of their arms and training by the US. Their greatest foreign champions are Evangelical Christian groups and especially a Jew by the name of Michael Savage, a conservation firebrand, in the US. Officially, they are under the control of the Peshmerga, who aided in their training… but it is American arms and many sympathetic Evangelicals who are their biggest foreign donors and make up the most the foreign fighters with them. I’m going to guess this is… Read more »

But in this instance they seem to be affiliated with the Iraqi Peoples’ Mobilisation Units [ PMU ]. And ultimately, the Assyrians can have no love for the Turks or the Kurds. The PMU is not perfect, and are Government-affiliated, but the Iraqi Government is moving away from America and allying with Russia, which is definately a positive. The Iraqi Government is even recognising the Houthis. The Shi’ites seem to approve the current Government, Assad likes the current Iraqi Government.

Dwekh nawsha only has 8 members (not including foreigners) while the NPU has 5000 trained fighters.

The NPU is not under the Peshmerga, but is linked to Baghdad and is a direct partner to the PMU.

Richard Hedditch : funny fact : if the US govt/CIA/DoS seem to be on the wrong side, Pentagon does what they can to circumvent bureaucracy and really help as much as they can! Even pilots publicly criticized the ROE they were given due to WH were making impossible to them to do their job : they support the kurds, assyrians, even were very implied with Houthis to f**k AQAT and you can even ask yourself if they didn’t managed to f**k up saudi efforts in Yemen in some ways… Things are not all white and not all black, things are… Read more »

we in Europe have to expel or kill all moslems. Otherwise we will end up, like Palestinians in Palestine.

You’re absolutely not understanding how things works : most of those you think they are muslims are so just because their parents were before and don’t give a f**k about religion!
We’d better expel or kill fascists before as they’re a biggest threat to E.U… Maybe should we expel them to the mid-east, anyway, fascists are allied to islamists since 1941, due to the al-Husseini/Himmler pact! More about it :
