DAMASCUS, SYRIA (0:00 A.M.) – On Friday evening, a jihadist Emir originating from the Caucasus region of Russia was killed during prayer time in a mosque in the provincial capital of Idlib.
Sheikh Salah, Emir of the Imam Bukhari brigade (jihadist group with foreign fighters mainly from Uzbekistan), was shot dead along with four bodyguards by unknown assailants during Magreb prayer in downtown Idlib. The attackers are still at large.
Nowadays, Idlib is targeted by car bombs or assassinations once a week on average. Rebel factions usually point the finger at spies of the Mukhabarat (Syrian intelligence agency) although infighting seems just as likely.
