BEIRUT, LÍBANO (4:20 P.M.) – El presidente sirio, Bashar Al-Assad, dijo el jueves al asesor de seguridad nacional de Iraq, Falih Al-Fayyad, que Siria está preparada para enfrentar todas las formas de agresión turca en su territorio, incluso si eso significa una confrontación militar.

El presidente sirio acusó a Turquía de emprender una campaña criminal en Siria destinada a derrocar a su gobierno.

El presidente Assad criticó la operación turca como una “clara invasión y agresión contra Siria”, y agregó que el ejército sirio ya ha atacado a los agentes y militantes del régimen turco dentro del país.

Además de su discusión sobre Turquía, el presidente Assad y el funcionario iraquí prometieron aumentar los lazos bilaterales y mejorar la seguridad fronteriza /

Por su parte, Fayyad enfatizó que los dos países deben continuar su trabajo conjunto en varios niveles para alcanzar los intereses de Irak y Siria, y lograr la seguridad y la paz para ambos países.

A la reunión también asistió el embajador sirio en Irak, Sattam al-Dandah.
